Download the artful escape of francis vendetti
Now here's the rub: The Artful Escape Of Francis Vendetti is on Kickstarter right now, and the developers are requesting approximately $35,000 with an expected ship date of August 2017. So if you've seen the trailer above, I probably don't need to compel you further. If I'm right, then you appreciate games dripping with imagination and character. The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti "is about the worlds of wonder and intrigue artists can create around their core medium - not David Bowie’s music, but the androgynous science-fiction character he envisioned to perform it - not Andy Warhol’s art, but the cultural hub he created within his Factories - not Daft Punk’s vocoded electronica, but their faceless robotic personas struggling to understand humanity."
The developers seem especially connected to music and its cultural impact, and that's where the Bowie inspiration comes from. That last aspect reminds me of Sound Shapes for the PS Vita. Players will be able to traverse landscapes made up of sound itself, which get triggered by your movement through it. There are mountains to climb, operatic guitar solos to play, extra dimensional animals to record audio samples of, and some light puzzles to solve. It looks to be part narrative-driven walking simulator, but the gameplay on offer looks varied to say the least. That's the premise, and what unfolds looks absolutely magical. Now it's the night before Francis' first performance in Calpyso, Colorado, and he's freaking out in his own skin. Johnson Vendetti was a "cultural megalith" who released an album that I'm imagining was as iconic as David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" or Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon." The game's tagline is "Discover who you aren't," and it follows young musician Francis Vendetti's attempt to live up to his famous uncle's legacy.
